Following the first video tutorial about how to insert a godet into a seam I created this second one explaining another method to achieve the same result. The difference lies in the sequence of the steps performed. I use both techniques – the first one when I am making an outfit that doesn’t require a fitting or when I am sure exactly where the godet will be inserted. I use the method shown in this video tutorial when I need to prepare an outfit for a fitting where we will determine the position and size of the godet so when it comes to inserting the godet the skirt seams are already joined.
Check out this second technique for inserting a godet into a flamenco skirt seam, try out both and chose the one that works best for you.
Of course you don’t necessarily need a seam to insert a godet. You can add flare to any section of a skirt by cutting a vertical slash into the fabric and insert your godet there.
I don’t use this method for flamenco outfits. Flamenco dancing puts a lot of strain on an outfit so I tend to prefer the less delicate ways of inserting a godet.
